Rack up another win for the Fountain Valley Jaguars who played their 7th game this season at Irvine Chargers (University High School). This 35-0 treat did the trick in preparing the Jaguars for the final regular season game next week. The Jaguars remain undefeated at 6-0-1 for the season. The Jaguar offense has scored 211 total points this season while their defense has given up only 12 points all year.

The Jaguar defense did not allow a first down until the Charger's last possession in the 4th quarter. This is the most important reason why the Chargers (4-3) were held scoreless.

This 35-0 win was the Jaguar's fifth shutout of the season and only the second time this year that Irvine was held scoreless (their other shutout was a 31-0 loss to undefeated South Orange County). The Chargers even managed to score 8 points in a tough game against the undefeated La Mirada Matadors a month ago.

The Jaguars sacked Irvine's offense eight times this game. Bryan Schutte and Jim Tran led the team with two sacks each. Sean Tierney and Austin Ray combined for one sack on the Charger's first series of the game. Aram Bitar, Travis McNaughton and Sean Tierney had the other three sacks in this game.

DS Josh Perez intercepted an Irvine Charger Pass while DL Michael Berber later recovered a Charger fumble. Both turnovers resulted in Jaguar touchdowns.

After a Jaguar fumble in the red zone late in the 2nd quarter, the Jaguar defense stiffened to score their 1st safety of the year. The Jaguar defense also played extra tough following a their fumbled kickoff return late in the 2nd quarter. Neither turnover resulted in Irvine Charger points (the safety, however, scored two Jaguar points).

The Jaguar defense only surrendered 26 total yards in this game (3rd fewest this season). For the first game this year the Jaguar defense held their opponents to negative yardage in two quarters (a potential goal mentioned just last week). The other potential goal of 3 quarters with 100 or more offensive yards mentioned last week will have to wait for the game on Saturday.

The Jaguar offense rolled up over 300 yards for only the third time this season (2nd consecutive week). The "third quarter offense" scored for only the second time this season. They have been held scoreless since the first game of the season vs. Corona Panthers.

Saturday's game against the undefeated South Orange County Patriots will be played at 1 PM (November 7th), at Fountain Valley High School. The winning team of this game will capture the AFL Pacific League Championship. Every member of the winning team will be awarded Championship patches to be sewn on their Jerseys. Only four teams in Orange County (of 33 OC JAAF Clinic teams) achieve this goal.
