Game 5 at Orange Chiefs West resulted in a 21-0 victory. For the season the Jaguars have scored 130 total points and have only surrendered 12. Midway through the ‘98 season they are 4-0-1 (in position to win the Pacific Division).

The Jaguar defense did not allow a single point against the Chiefs. This was the first shutout against the Orange Chiefs by any team this season (including South Orange County who allowed 6 Chief points).

The Jaguars allowed their second fewest defensive yards (15) vs. Orange. The Jaguars allowed 30 (Corona), 208 (Rowland Heights), -42 (Imperial Cities) and 48 ( Carson).

Credit the Jaguar Defense, especially Max Bell, Christopher Yerena and Coby Mason who had fumble recoveries. A.J. Wukawitz’s two big sacks and a pass knock down also helped stop the Chiefs on three separate series. Eric Ceja and Travis McNaughton each had a sack too! Defense played well all game.

This is only the second game this season that the offense has not gained 200 yards. They only managed 125 vs. Carson and now only 150 at the Chiefs.

Penalties just killed the Jaguars. Three Jaguar touchdowns were called back in the 2nd quarter for clipping and two holding penalties. Their third quarter offense did not block well which contributed to a Jaguar fumble. Another touchdown was called back in the 4th quarter for illegal formation and their 4th quarter offense did not block well. Their first quarter offense did play well.

In 16 quarters of their first 4 games, the Jaguars have only had 1 quarter that resulted in negative offensive yardage (2nd quarter of the Carson game). In the Chiefs game, they had 2 quarters with negative offensive yardage!

The Jaguars grabbed 104 offensive yards in the 1st quarter, managed 54 yards of offense in the 2nd quarter, stumbled with minus 5 yards in the 3rd quarter and were stopped with minus 3 yards in the 4th quarter.

The Jaguars Turnover Ratio this game was +4. The Orange Chiefs turned the ball over 9 times (Chiefs: 3 fumbles and 6 turnovers on downs). The Jaguars turned it over 5 times (Jaguars: 2 interceptions, 1 fumble and 2 on downs).

The Jaguars Turnover Ratio games played so far is +4 at Orange, 0 vs. Carson, +8 vs. Corona, +1 at Rowland Heights and +2 at Imperial Cities.
